Entry Requirements

Nationals of a country within the Schengen1 area do not require a passport or a visa to enter Malta. An official document, such as a national identity card is sufficient. British and Irish nationals require a passport, but a visa is not necessary. Similarly, travelers from Australia, Canada, Croatia, Japan, New Zealand and the United States only need a passport to enter Malta.

Nationals of other countries need a visa in addition to a passport. Travelers requiring visas may purchase them at a cost of €60 at Maltese embassies and consulates in their home countries.
