TAXIS

The most convenient way to reach your hotel from the airport is by taxi. A booth is located in the Arrivals Hall, where you will be advised of the cost of the trip; this depends on your destination, but should not set you back more than €34.00 for the longest of trips. Payment is to be settled at the booth. The voucher issued may then be presented to the driver.

The practice of hailing a taxi is virtually unknown in Malta. If you require a cab, you may call one of several taxi companies. These taxis are not normally equipped with a meter and you will be informed of the cost of the trip by the friendly receptionist who takes your call. There are a multitude of such companies to choose from.

In popular tourist haunts, such as Buġibba, Valletta, St Julians, Sliema and the International Airport, you may catch a “White Taxi” at a Taxi Stand. These taxis are equipped with meters and drivers are duty bound to use it.

In general, taxis are an expensive way to travel in Malta; it is only advisable to call a cab when other means of transport are not an option.
